Catawba County will host its annual Delinquent Property Tax Sale on January 8, 2025, at the Catawba County Justice Center, 100 Government Drive, Newton, North Carolina. Registration begins on-site, with the auction starting promptly at 12:00 p.m.

Terms of Sale

They require a cash deposit of 20% of the highest bid immediately after the conclusion of the sale.
The successful bidder must pay the purchase price balance, recording fees, and revenue stamps assessed by the County Register of Deeds before the sale is confirmed.
Any owner, mortgage holder, or defendant can redeem the properties before they finalize foreclosure process. The redemption price includes all taxes, interest fees, and costs incurred up to the redemption date.
All sales are subject to a 10-day upset bid period, during which any interested party can file an upset bid.

How to Participate

Arrive early to register and bring proper identification.
Be prepared with cash or certified funds to cover the 20% deposit required for the highest bid.
Follow the Clerk of Superior Court’s procedures for upset bids if you wish to participate in the upset bid process.

Upset Bid Process

The upset bid must exceed the reported sale price by 5% or $750, whichever is higher.
Submit your upset bid in person to the Catawba County Clerk of Superior Court, along with a certified bank check payable to the Clerk of Superior Court.
Ensure your bid is filed within 10 days of the report of sale to qualify.
If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, you may submit bids on the next business day.
