Freestone County will host its Delinquent Property Tax Sale on October 7, 2025, at the Courthouse Steps in Freestone County, Texas. Registration begins the day of the sale, and the auction will start promptly at 10:00 A.M.

Terms of Sale:

Registration: Bidders must register with the person conducting the sale before the auction begins and present a valid government-issued ID. The grantee named in the deed must match the registered bidder.

Payment: Successful bidders must pay with cash or cashier’s check made payable to the designated entity. Failure to make payment will result in liability for 20% of the property value plus associated costs.

Minimum Bid: The starting bid includes delinquent taxes at the time of judgment but excludes the current year’s taxes. Purchasers must cover any taxes that accrued after the judgment date.

Deed Details: Purchasers will receive a Sheriff’s Deed, which comes without any warranty. Title insurance may be difficult to obtain, and the title is not guaranteed.

Redemption Period:

Two years for homestead properties, agricultural land, and mineral interests.
180 days for other properties.
The redemption cost includes the purchase amount, deed recording fee, post-sale taxes, property costs, and a premium of 25% (first year) or 50% (second year).

“As-Is” Condition: Properties are sold as-is with no guarantees on location, condition, or encumbrances. It is the bidder’s responsibility to research and verify property details.
