Terms of Sale
Hillsborough County sells properties to recover unpaid property taxes, as outlined in Chapter 197, Florida Statutes. Participants must deposit $200 or 5% of their highest anticipated bid before the auction begins. This deposit will be applied to the final sale price for winning bidders, and they must pay the balance by 10:00 AM the following business day.
In addition to the bid amount, winning participants must also pay a documentary stamp tax ($0.70 per $100 of the final bid) and a recording fee. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, cashier’s check, or funds in the bidder’s account.
How to Participate
Register online at the Hillsborough County RealTaxDeed platform before the auction. Bidders must provide a deposit using ACH (Electronic Check), domestic wire, or in-person payment at the Clerk’s Office.
Place Your Bid: Bidders can submit proxy bids, allowing the system to increase the bid in $100 increments when necessary to outbid others.
Make Final Payment: The successful bidder must settle the remaining balance by 10:00 AM on the next business day.
