Calhoun County Tax Sale Information
Calhoun County will hold its upcoming Delinquent Property Tax Sale on August 5, 2025, at the Calhoun County Courthouse Lobby in Port Lavaca, Texas. Bidders must register in person before the sale begins, and the auction will start promptly at 10:00 AM.

Terms of Sale:
Bidders must register with a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID. The winning bidder’s name must match the grantee on the deed. All properties will sell to the highest oral bidder. Buyers must pay immediately using cash or a cashier’s check payable to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
If the winning bidder fails to pay, they become liable for 20% of the property’s value and additional costs. Buyers representing a legal entity like an LLC must pay personally if the entity fails to meet payment terms.
The minimum bid includes past-due taxes up to the judgment date. Buyers must pay any taxes that accrued afterward. All purchases will receive a Sheriff’s Deed without warranty, and title insurance may be difficult to obtain.
Properties may carry liens for maintenance or demolition. Some will also include a right of redemption—up to 2 years for homesteads, agricultural land, and mineral interests, and 180 days for other properties. Redemption requires repayment of the bid amount, fees, and any approved expenses, plus a 25% to 50% premium, depending on when the property is redeemed.
