Lake County Tax Sale Information

Lake County will host its annual Delinquent Property Tax Sale on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Lake County Administration Building, Assembly Room, 10th Floor, located at 18 N County Street, Waukegan, IL 60085. Registration opens on October 1, 2024, and the auction will start promptly at 9:00 AM CST, with all participants required to be in line by 10:30 AM to submit bids. This sale will continue until all properties with delinquent taxes are sold.

Terms of Sale:

Deposit: They Require all registered buyers to provide a deposit. First-time buyers must provide a certified check in the amount they plan to purchase, separate from the $100 fee for the delinquent tax list.

Tax Lien Bidding: The auction utilizes the RAMS-2 system, where tax buyers submit bids via a USB flash drive. The lowest interest rate bid wins, and if there are multiple bids at the same rate, a random selection is made.

Refund Policy: If you attend the sale and do not purchase any items, we will refund your deposit.

How to Participate:

Register: You must Complete and submit the Application for Delinquent Property Tax Sale by October 25, 2024, at 5:00 pm CST. Send the application to the Lake County Collector at 18 N County Street, Room 102, Waukegan, IL. Along with your deposit.

Bid: Submit your bids via a USB flash drive on the day of the sale using the RAMS-2 system.

Payment: Pay all winning bids in full by noon on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Collect Certificates: Winning tax buyers will need to pick up their Certificates of Sale in person within 15 business days of notification.
