McLean County Tax Sale Information

McLean County will host its annual Real Estate and Mobile Home Tax Sale on November 6, 2025, at the McLean County Government Center, 4th Floor County Board Room, 115 E. Washington Street, Bloomington, IL 61702. All bidders must register at least ten business days prior to the auction. Registered tax buyers can check in beginning at 9:00 AM, with the auction starting promptly at 10:00 AM.

Terms of Sale:

This is a lien-only tax sale conducted under Illinois Compiled Statutes Chapter 35, Act 200, Article 21. Bidders compete by offering the lowest interest rate, starting from 9%. McLean County will bid 9% on parcels without private bids, and those certificates may later be acquired through the County Clerk.

To register, you must submit a $250 deposit with the registration form. Winning bidders must submit payments on the same day, unless they have made prior arrangements; the hard deadline is noon on the following business day.. Failure to pay cancels the bid and disqualifies the bidder from future sales.

Each parcel carries a $104 statutory fee plus other applicable costs, including certified mail, publication, and interest. Buyers receive official Sale Certificates several weeks after the event, which represent liens on the purchased properties.

To join the McLean County Tax Sale:

Submit a completed registration packet and IRS Form W9 by the deadline

Include a $250 deposit payable to the McLean County Collector

Attend the sale in person on November 6, 2025

Bring a valid ID and arrive by 9:00 AM for check-in and bidding system tutorial

Pay in full for your purchases on the same day or by noon the next business day

Only registered buyers may participate. Non-attending registrants forfeit their deposit.
