Shelby County Tax Sale Auction Information

Shelby County will host its annual Tax Lien Auction on April 1, 2026, through an online auction. The auction will begin on April 1, 2026, at 8:30 AM CST.

Terms of Sale:

All bidders must submit a refundable deposit for 10% of the amount they wish to be approved to spend. For example, if you want approval for a $12,000 bid limit, you must deposit $1,200.

GovEase must receive deposits by 11:00 AM CST the day before the sale (March 30, 2026.

They only accept e-check/ACH or wire transfer. Credit and debit cards are not allowed.

The county will process refunds for deposits 7-10 business days after the auction concludes. Refunds will be credited to the same payment method used.

Shelby County does not accept First Right Claims for the auction. The county handles these separately, with a payment deadline of March 30, 2026. For inquiries, contact April Butler at (205) 670-6909 or [email protected].

How to Participate:

Register online at GovEase between March 3, 2026, at 10:30 PM CST and April 1, 2026, at 2:30 AM CST.

Prebidding opens on March 30, 2026, at 10:30 PM CST.

Submit your refundable deposit and required registration documents to GovEase.

Bidding will open at 9:30 PM CST on April 2, 2025.

Bidders must make all payments by wire or ACH transfer.
