Christian County Tax Sale Information

Christian County will hold its Real Estate & Mobile Home Sealed Bid Tax Sale on August 15, 2025, at the Christian County Courthouse located at 101 S. Main Street, Taylorville, IL 62568. You must register by the last day to bid, submitting your sealed bid either online or in person at the Treasurer’s office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on sale day.

Terms of Sale:

You must submit your bid online via iltaxsalebids.com or deliver a completed Binding Purchase Contract / Sealed Bid with full payment to the Treasurer’s office by the last bidding day.

Only online or sealed written bids count. No verbal bidding.

You must include full payment with your sealed bid—no cash accepted. Acceptable payment includes personal check, cashier’s check, money order, or bank draft.

If someone outbids you, your original payment returns via the same method.

County officials, employees, and their relatives cannot bid (per Illinois law, 55 ILCS 5/4-2006).

The County may reject any bid or remove a parcel without notice.

Some properties may be hazardous, condemned, or subject to demolition or liens. Inspect properties and consult local authorities before bidding.

How to Participate:

Online Bidding:

Create an account or log in to www.iltaxsalebids.com.

Inspect property in person—it sells “as is.”

Enter your highest bid (minimum: $837.00).

Confirm the property item number and details.

Agree to terms and submit.

If you win, you’ll get emailed instructions. You then must pay in full within 7 days or your bid gets nullified; the next highest bidder qualifies.

Sealed Written Bidding:

Get a catalog and Binding Purchase Contract from the Treasurer’s office.

Inspect property physically—it sells “as is.”

Fill in everything: Item #, Parcel #, date, your bid (min $837.00), name, address, phone, and sign.

Enclose full payment (no cash) payable to County Trustee. Include the Item # in the memo.

Seal your contract and payment in an envelope marked “SEALED BID.”

Hand-deliver or mail—ensure the Treasurer receives it by the deadline (postmark doesn’t count). Certified mail recommended.

Expect results by mail about 7 days after the last bidding day. Successful bidders get a signed contract copy; unsuccessful ones receive a voided payment and notice of winning bid.
