Aiken County Tax Sale Information

Aiken County will host its annual Delinquent Property Tax Sale on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, 2049 Champion Way, Graniteville, SC 29829. Registration runs online from September 19, 2025 (9:00 a.m.) through October 17, 2025 (5:00 p.m.). The auction starts at 9:00 a.m. (ET). If the Tax Collector needs more time, staff will announce a continuation before close of business and resume at 9:00 a.m. the next day.

Terms of Sale

Pay every winning bid in full by 5:00 p.m. on sale day with cash, certified check, wire transfer, or money order. The County does not accept personal checks for winning bids. The County adds a $54 Tax Title fee, a $15 recording fee, and document stamps to each property sold on sale day. Bring government photo ID to check in and receive your bidder number. No children admitted.

A one-year redemption period applies. If the owner redeems, the County calculates interest on your bid at 3% (months 1–3), 6% (months 4–6), 9% (months 7–9), or 12% (months 10–12). The interest cannot exceed the Forfeited Land Commission (opening) bid amount.

To avoid the sale, the owner must pay all delinquent amounts by 5:00 p.m., October 31, 2025. For those payoff payments (to stop the sale), the County accepts cash, money order, attorney trust/escrow check, certified check, or credit card (1.49% convenience fee).

How to Participate

Register online: Submit your bidder application on the County website from Sept 19, 2025 (9:00 a.m.) to Oct 17, 2025 (5:00 p.m.). The $25 non-refundable registration fee covers processing and an updated sale-day property list.

Mail your packet by the deadline: Send the signed registration form, the signed Disclaimer/Acknowledgement & Release, the $25 fee (personal/business check, cashier’s check, or money order), and a copy of your photo ID so the Tax Collector receives it by 5:00 p.m., Oct 24, 2025. Mail to:
Aiken County Tax Collector, Attn: Bidder Registration, P.O. Box 873, Aiken, SC 29802-0873. The office emails a confirmation once the staff process your packet. No day-of registration.

Prepare your research: Review the advertised list (Aiken Standard Oct 18, Oct 25, Nov 1), and use the County’s property list posted Oct 18, 2025, on the website. Verify liens, addresses, and parcel data before you bid.

Bid in person: Staff sell properties by sale number (alphabetical order). The Tax Collector places the first bid on behalf of the Forfeited Land Commission for the total delinquent amount.
