Chowan County will hold a Delinquent Property Tax Foreclosure Sale on May 5, 2025, at the Chowan County Courthouse, Edenton, NC. The public auction begins at 12:00 PM (noon). A 20% cash deposit is required from the highest bidder at the time of sale.

Terms of Sale:

All properties are sold as-is with no warranty on title, habitability, or condition. A 20% deposit in cash or certified funds must be paid immediately after the winning bid.

The winning bidder must pay a 1% Land Transfer Tax, recording fees, and revenue stamps when recording the deed with the Chowan County Register of Deeds.

Sales are subject to any unpaid city or county taxes not included in the judgment. A 10-day upset bid period follows each sale, as provided in N.C.G.S. §1-339.25.

How to Participate:

Attend the in-person auction on May 5 at the Chowan County Courthouse.

Bring certified funds for the deposit. You must pay the full balance and associated fees if the county confirm your bid after the upset bid period ends.

There are no warranties, and the county does not guarantee condition, access, or possession.
