Halifax County Tax Sale Auction Information

Halifax County will host its 2025 Real Estate Tax Sale Auction on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the School Board Meeting Room, 1030 Mary Bethune Street, Halifax, VA. Registration for in-person bidders begins at 11:30 AM, with the auction starting promptly at 12:00 PM. Online bidding is also available through Dudley Resources.

Terms of Sale

Properties are sold “as-is, where-is,” with no warranties expressed or implied.

Conveyance is by Special Warranty Deed, subject to any easements, covenants, or restrictions.

The sale is contingent on confirmation by the Circuit Court.

A deposit of 25% or $1,000 (whichever is higher) plus a 10% buyer’s premium is required from the highest bidder.

Full payment, including deed recording costs, must be made within 15 days of court confirmation.

How to Participate

In-Person Bidders:

Arrive by 11:30 AM for registration.

Buyers must pay deposits and the buyer’s premium on the auction day.

Online Bidders:

Register and bid via Dudley Resources.

Buyers must make deposit payments within seven days of the auction’s close.
