Harris County Tax Sale Informationte

Harris County will host its Delinquent Property Tax Sale Auction on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Bayou City Event Center. Registration begins before the sale, and the auction starts promptly at 10:00 AM and continues until 4:00 PM.

Terms of Sale

All properties are sold “as is” and “where-is” on a buyer-beware basis. No warranties or guarantees regarding property condition or title are offered.

Properties will be auctioned by eight Constables simultaneously.

Full payment is required immediately after the sale. Acceptable payment methods include cash or certified funds only.

The Treasurer’s Office issues receipts for purchases on the day of the sale and provides deeds within 4–6 weeks.

The county sells properties to the highest bidder, starting at $1,600 for delinquent tax properties.

How to Participate

Bidder Registration

Participants must register and renew their registration annually to participate.

You may pre-register online, by mail, or in person.

You must present a valid government-issued ID.

Bidders must not owe any delinquent taxes on any Harris County property.

Steps to Register

Online: Visit www.hctax.net. Select Property Tax > Delinquent Property Tax Sales, then click the Registration of Bidders button.

By Mail: Complete the “Tax Sale Bidder Registration” form available online and mail it to: 1001 Preston, Houston, Texas 77002 – Attn: Tax Sales.

In-Person: Submit your registration to the table on the day of the tax sale.

Bidder Agents

Agents representing buyers must register separately for each client.
Provide written authorization on company letterhead for each buyer you represent.
