Scott County Tax Sale Auction Information

Scott County, Virginia will host its Special Commissioner’s Tax Lien Auction on April 23, 2025, at the Board Room of the County Office Building, 190 Beech Street, Gate City, VA. The auction will begin at 12:00 PM and will be available for both in-person and online bidding. Registration for the auction will be open from March 21, 2025, to April 21, 2025, with pre-bidding starting on April 22, 2025.

Terms of Sale:

Properties are sold as-is, with no warranties expressed or implied.

The highest bidder will be required to make a 25% deposit or $1,000 (whichever is higher) along with a 10% buyer’s premium, subject to a minimum of $150.

The balance of the purchase price is due within 15 days after the sale is confirmed by the court.

In-person bidders must make payments via personal check, cashier’s check, or money order.

Online bidders must register and get approval via Mitch-Ell Auction Firm’s website. You can make payments via certified funds, cashier’s check, money order, or wire transfer.

The buyer will prorate property taxes from the date of the auction.
