Stark County Tax Sale Information

Stark County will hold its Surplus Real Estate Sealed-Bid Tax Sale on August 8, 2025, at the Stark County Courthouse, 130 West Main Street, Toulon, IL 61483. You must submit your bid—online or sealed written—by the close of business that day.

Terms of Sale:

Stark County conducts this auction as a sealed-bid sale. Verbal bidding will not be accepted. Submit bids online at www.iltaxsalebids.com or in person by delivering a completed Binding Purchase Contract and full payment to the Treasurer’s Office.

Full payment must accompany your bid. Acceptable forms include personal check, cashier’s check, money order, or bank draft. If you are outbid, the Treasurer will return your original form of payment.

The County awards the property to the highest bidder. In case of tied bids, the County will contact those bidders for additional instructions. The County reserves the right to reject any bid or withdraw any parcel from the sale without notice.

Buyers accept all properties in “as-is” condition. It is your responsibility to inspect the property and research title or code issues before placing a bid. Some parcels may face demolition orders, code enforcement, or other restrictions.

County employees, officers, and their immediate relatives cannot participate due to Illinois state law.

How to Participate:

Visit www.iltaxsalebids.com to create an account and submit an online bid. You may also obtain a bid form from the Treasurer’s Office if you prefer to submit a sealed written bid in person or by mail.

Inspect the property in advance. The minimum bid is $836. Complete all fields in the bid form, sign it, and submit payment in full. Include only one bid and one payment per envelope, labeled clearly as “SEALED BID” with the item number.

If you win, the County will notify you by mail and send you a signed contract. If you do not win, your payment will be returned void.
