Contra Costa County Tax Information

Contra Costa County will host its online Delinquent Property Tax Sale on February 25, 2026, through GovEase.com. Registration opens on January 27, 2026, and must be completed by February 24, 2026. The auction will begin at 10:00 AM PST.

Terms of Sale

The sale will be conducted entirely online via GovEase.com.

You must pre-register with a $5,000 refundable deposit and a $35 non-refundable registration fee.

You must make the payment via ACH or wire transfer. The county will accept only the specified payment methods.

Winning bidders must complete full payment by 5:00 PM PST on February 25, 2026.

California transfer tax will be added to the purchase price, calculated at $0.55 per $500 of the sale price. Additional local transfer taxes apply for properties in Richmond ($7 per $1,000) and El Cerrito ($12 per $1,000).

The county sells all properties as is, without guaranteeing title, condition, or use. Due diligence is the responsibility of the bidder.

The right of redemption expires at 5:00 PM PST on February 24, 2026. Any property not sold will have the redemption period revived until the next sale.
