Stark County Tax Sale Information

Stark County will hold its Delinquent Property Tax Sale on April 1, 2025, at the Stark County Office Building, 110 Central Plaza South, First Floor, Event Hall. Registration is not required, and the auction begins at 9:00 A.M.

Terms of Sale:

The Sheriff’s Office conducts tax foreclosure sales on behalf of the Treasurer’s Office. The county sells properties as-is, without warranties or guarantees on title or condition. The Sheriff does not provide access to properties before or after the sale. The minimum bid includes unpaid taxes and associated court costs, but additional amounts owed to lien holders may still apply.

The highest bidder must submit a 10% deposit to the Stark County Treasurer by 4:30 P.M. on the day of the sale. The remaining balance must be paid within 30 days of the Confirmation of Sale filing. Make the payment via cashier’s check or certified check, payable to the Stark County Treasurer.

Ownership transfers only when the deed is picked up, not at the time of the sale. Buyers are responsible for removing any occupants through eviction or applying for a Writ of Possession with the Stark County Clerk of Courts.

How to Participate:

Bidders must attend the auction in person. The Canton Repository publishes the sale list for three consecutive Thursdays before the auction. Case files are available for public viewing at the Clerk of Courts Office in the County Courthouse.
