Santa Cruz County will hold its annual Tax Defaulted Properties Auction online through Bid4Assets starting June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. ET (8:00 a.m. PT). The auction closes on June 9, 2025, with exact ending times varying by parcel. The County Treasurer is offering 68 parcels in this sale, and all listings start at just $1,500 with no reserve.

Terms of Sale:

To participate, bidders must register on Bid4Assets and submit a $3,000 deposit plus a $35 non-refundable processing fee.

Deposits are required before accessing payment instructions and must be received by June 2, 2025. Santa Cruz County does not accept late payments or alternate forms of registration.

Winning bidders must complete full payment by June 12, 2025, using bank wire or certified/cashier’s check.

A 10% buyer’s premium (minimum $100), a $35 administrative fee per parcel, and California documentary transfer tax of $0.55 per $500 will be added to each final sale price.

Santa Cruz County will not offer properties to the second highest bidder. If a winning bidder defaults, the County will take legal action and forfeit the deposit.

All properties are sold “as is.” Santa Cruz County does not guarantee title, access, or condition.

Buyers must investigate properties before bidding and contact appropriate local offices, including the planning department, assessor, and recorder, to verify use and ownership concerns. Title may remain subject to IRS liens and certain special assessments or easements.
