Fauquier County Tax Sale Auction Information

Fauquier County will conduct a Judicial Tax Sale with private offers accepted until Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at noon. Properties that remain unsold by private offer will go to public auction on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at noon. The public auction will be held at the Fauquier Circuit Court, located at 40 Culpeper Street in Warrenton, Virginia.

Time: 12:00 PM (both days)

Terms of Sale:

Properties require court approval before completion.

Minimum deposit of $1,000 or 10% of the purchase price (whichever is greater) due with offer or bid via cashier’s check.

Full balance due within 30 days of court approval.

All sales are final, as-is, with no warranties, and conveyed by special warranty deed.

Buyers are responsible for the title search, recording costs, and grantor’s tax.

Cash not accepted; only cashier’s checks payable to “Clerk, Fauquier County Circuit Court”.

Private offers must meet or exceed 100% of the appraised value to be accepted

How to Participate:

Submit private offers to Special Commissioner Mary Catherine Anderson by July 16 at noon. For public auction participation, arrive at the Fauquier Circuit Court by noon on July 17.
