Limestone County Tax Sale Information

Limestone County will host its Delinquent Property Tax Sale Auction on December 2, 2025, at the Limestone County Courthouse. Registration begins onsite at 9:00 a.m., with the auction starting promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Terms of Sale:

Payment Requirements: Winning bidders must pay immediately via cash or cashier’s check payable to Limestone County Tax Office.

As-Is Purchase: Properties are sold “as-is” without warranty or guarantee of title. The issuing authority provides the Sheriff’s Deed without warranty, making it challenging to obtain title insurance.

Redemption Rights: All properties are subject to a redemption period. Homestead properties, agricultural land, and mineral interests have a two-year redemption period, while other properties have 180 days. Purchasers gain possession 20 days after the deed is filed.

Bidder Responsibilities: Prospective buyers should verify property details, including location and condition, before bidding. Properties may also be subject to liens for city services such as mowing or demolition fees.

How to Participate:

Registration: Registration is required in person on the day of the sale. Bidders must present a valid government-issued ID.

Minimum Bids: The listing shows minimum bid amounts for each property, which include delinquent taxes up to the judgment date.  They do not include current-year taxes and may be due.

Payment Liability: Failure to pay as a winning bidder incurs liability of 20% of the property value plus costs, per Rule 652 of Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
