Taylor County Tax Sale Information

Taylor County will hold its quarterly Delinquent Property Tax Sale on September 2, 2025, at the Taylor County Courthouse, located at 300 Oak Street, Abilene, Texas. Registration is required before bidding, and the auction will start at 10:00 AM.

Terms of Sale

Bidder Registration: All participants must register before bidding and provide a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID. The name on the deed must match the successful bidder’s name.

Payment: Winning bidders must make full payment by 5:00 PM on the day of the sale using cash or a cashier’s check payable to Taylor County Appraisal District.

Deed & Title: Purchasers will receive a Sheriff’s Deed, which does not come with any warranties. Title insurance may be difficult to obtain.

Redemption Period:

  • Homestead, agricultural land, and mineral interests have a two-year redemption period.
  • Other properties have a 180-day redemption period.

Redemption Fees: If the property is redeemed within the first year, the redeemer must pay the purchase price plus 25%. If redeemed in the second year, the fee increases to 50%.

How to Participate

Research the Properties – Maps, deeds, and lawsuit details can be found at the Taylor County Clerk’s office or Taylor County Appraisal District website.

Register Before Bidding – Bring a valid ID and complete the Bidder’s Acknowledgment Form before the auction.

Bid at the Auction – Sales are conducted orally, and the highest bidder wins. Minimum bids include delinquent taxes but do not cover current taxes.

Complete Payment – Payments must be made by 5:00 PM on the day of the sale.

Receive a Sheriff’s Deed – The winning bidder receives a deed without warranty.
