Highlands County Tax Sale Information

Highlands County, Florida will hold its April 8, 2026 tax deed auction online through Highlands County RealTaxDeed. Bidders must register on the county’s auction site before the sale and meet the deposit rules before they can bid. The auction starts at 10:00 AM ET.

Terms of Sale:

Highlands County sells each tax deed property to the highest qualified bidder through its online auction platform. The county sells all properties as is, and the Clerk does not promise clear or marketable title. You must research the property, title, taxes, and any other issues before you bid. If no bidder tops the opening bid, the Clerk offers the property to the certificate holder. Recording fees and documentary stamp taxes apply.

You must pay the remaining balance by 4:30 PM ET on the next business day after the sale. If you send a wire, the Clerk’s bank must receive it by 2:00 PM ET that next business day. If you miss the payment deadline, the Clerk will cancel your bids, keep the deposit, and bar you from future Highlands County tax deed sales for six months. All sales are final.

Registration: Register online before the auction. Highlands County does not charge a registration fee.

Deposit: Place a deposit of $200 or 5% of your highest bid, whichever is greater, for each property you plan to bid on. You may make advance deposits online at least three full business days before the auction, or you may bring cash, cashier’s check, or money order to the Tax Deeds Department by 2:00 PM ET the day before the sale. Highlands County does not accept personal checks.

Bid Increments: Bidding starts at the amount needed to cover delinquent taxes, interest, and sale costs. Raise bids in increments of $100 or more. Opening bids can change without notice.

Submit your deposit before the deadline using an approved payment method.

Review the listing details, legal description, and opening bid for each property on the auction platform. Use the county search tools and outside research sources before you bid.

Bid online when the auction opens at 10:00 AM ET.

Pay your remaining balance on time if you win.
