Erath County Tax Sale Information

Erath County will host its semi-annual Delinquent Property Tax Sale on First Tuesday of the month, at the South Door, 100 West Washington Street of the Courthouse, Stephenville, Texas. Registration will begin on the day of the sale, and the auction is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM.

Terms of Sale:

The property will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder for cash or cashier’s check.

Successful bidders must provide payment immediately after the sale. Personal checks will not be accepted.

Purchasers will receive a Sheriff’s Deed WITHOUT WARRANTY, and title insurance may be challenging to obtain.

All sales are final and conducted on a “Buyer Beware” basis. They will not issue refunds.

Property purchased may be subject to a statutory right of redemption:

Two years for homestead or agricultural properties.
180 days for all other properties.

How to Participate:

Registration: Interested bidders must register with the auction officer prior to bidding. You must present a valid driver’s license or government-issued ID.

Payment: Make payment via cash or cashier’s check payable to the designated officer.

Preparation: Review maps, plats, and lawsuit files at the County Clerk’s office before participating.
